Yesterday I watched the show The Dog Whisperer on TV and it made think about success secrets and strategies to achieve what you desire in life. If you have missed the show its host Cesar Millan visits with dog owners around the US to help them with their problems.
I have had might insights regarding leadership and pack behavior from the watching the show. I really enjoy how Cesar focuses more on what energy or state we are in than techniques. This also ties in to my thoughts for this post.
Last night I had a new revelation as a woman and her dog were presented. She declared that she had watched the show many times and that she was doing the things she recommended to do. Yet it did not make her achieve what she wanted with her which was still a big problem. So what success secret was she missing here.
I would say she was missing the BE-DO-HAVE formula. In a sense it is not a success secret because it has been written about many time as a success strategy but few people use it, so in a sense it is still a secret. The woman was doing (DO) all the things she had been told to achieve (HAVE) the results she desired. But the results where not there.
Then Cesar shows up and in a matter of minutes the dog changes its behavior. Why is that? Is would say the success secret here is that that woman was not being (BE) a calm and assertive pack leader. She did (DO) all the things a calm and assertive pack leader would be assumed to do, but the energy, the being, the self-image (BE) was not there.
If you see yourself, feel yourself and hold yourself from the inside (BE) as a pack leader, then the actions of a pack leader will be a natural consequense (DO) and the results will follow. If you try to do, do and do, but your inner image or feeling (BE) says that you are not a calm and assertive pack leader you will have to work so much harder to achieve what you want, if you will ever achieve it all.
The success secret or success formula applies to any part of life, money, love, leadership and so on.
